  • Ingredients: Organic Matcha green tea powder (100%)

    Product weight: 30g

Specially selected by our tea master, Nagata-san, to commemorate our 30th anniversary. Okumidori, meaning ‘deepest green’, is a superior, artisanal Matcha from Wazuka, in Uji, Kyoto, a place steeped in eight centuries of matcha history.

Of all the tea fields in Japan, fewer than 5% are dedicated to growing Okumidori Matcha, which makes it so valuable. Stone-ground using the freshest and youngest tea leaves from the year’s first harvest, it has a naturally smoother taste, whilst delivering a rich umami flavour.

We’d love to invite you to join us in celebrating 30 years of Clearspring with this Limited Edition Okumidori Matcha.

    Enjoy your special Matcha Moment

The traditional Japanese tea ceremony dates back 900 years to feudal times. It can take up to 3 hours and is steeped in history, is full of theatre and is incredibly calming. If you would like to make Matcha emulating the essence and spirit of the traditional tea ceremony you can do so in less than 3 minutes but you will need a bowl, a bamboo tea scoop and a bamboo matcha whisk.

    1. Preheat the bowl thoroughly with hot water, then empty it and dry carefully with a cloth. Use the bamboo tea scoop to measure 1½ heaped scoops of Matcha powder and place them in the bowl.
    2. Pour approximately 50-60ml of hot water into the bowl. Make sure the temperature of the water is approximately 70-80°C, not boiling.
    3. Take the bamboo whisk in one hand and hold the rim of the Matcha bowl with the other. Whisk the Matcha briskly in a ‘W’ motion using your wrist (not your arm).
    4. When a thick froth with many tiny bubbles has developed on the surface, slowly lift the bamboo whisk from the centre of the bowl.
    5. Add more water according to your taste and savour the deliciously smooth flavour of Matcha

Best Matcha

The best matcha i ever tried. The taste is without any solid notes which makes it very smooth compared to any other matcha, almost no bitterness at all

Very Rich Colour and Deep in Flavour

A very nice matcha that has little bitterness compared with others, with a lovey deep matcha flavour and rich green colour. Comes in a lovely black tin.

Very good

The okumidori matcha is less bitter so I do prefer it to the regular matcha you sell.

Creamy vibrant green Matcha

One of the best Matcha I’ve tried! Really nice with just warm water whisked in a bowl. I love the smell it produces when whisking.
