  • Ingredients: Organically grown roasted green tea twigs, stems and leaves

    Product weight: 20 bags (36g)

Clearspring Organic Kukicha is made from the carefully selected twigs and stems of Japanese tea bushes. They are steamed, rolled and dried before slowly aged to develop their mild and soothing flavour. Roasting the tea reduces its caffeine content and gives it a delicately nutty aroma, which makes our Kukicha perfect for any time of the day and suitable for the whole family.

  • Third Generation Tea Family from Kyoto, Japan

In the hills around Kyoto, the third generation of the Nagata family use special organic methods, known as Nature Farming, to produce a range of exquisite green teas for Clearspring.

The ancient farming approach used by the Nagatas builds up soil vitality by maintaining a semi-wild environment, where the plants are not overly protected and gain nourishment from repeated applications of compost made from tea clippings and dried leaves, which together with regular mulching helps control weed growth and maintain soil moisture.

Whilst most tea farmers spray their plants with pesticides and herbicides 15-20 times a year, the Nagatas' tea bushes have a vigour that enables them to thrive without chemical inputs.

The Nagatas' yields may be lower than average but their plants have far less mould and blight. They remain productive for up to 40 years, twice as long as the typical tea bush treated with chemicals.

As well as growing tea, the Nagatas undertake the skilful blanching, drying and roasting processes to bring out the unique flavours of each individual blend.

Kukicha

My go to cuppa, the taste is excellent and I find it has a calming effect.

Kukicha T-bags

This is my ‘go to’ cup of tea, very refreshing. Thank-you.
I have deducted one star, however. The last 12 boxes of these T-bags that I have purchased have not been sealed in their paper envelopes. In no way is this a criticism of the quality of the actual T-bags.

My favourite tea

I've been using Kukicha tea for a long time for both health benefits and the taste. This was the first time I bought it in bags and discovered that it tastes the same and is much easier to prepare, especially when travelling. I may stick to bags from now on.

Kukicha Japanese twig tea

I like this tea because it has sort of earthy taste. If you are reading this review I can recommend you give it a try, this type of tea has been recommended because I follow the wu diet
