They are delicious in miso and clear soups, add them at the end of cooking time to retain their delicate flavour and appearance. They are also a great addition to stir-fries and salads, in which case they should be soaked in lukewarm water for 2-3 minutes before using.
Known in Japan as fueru wakame or ‘expanding wakame’, the product contains nothing but top quality wakame. The flakes are made by a simple process where the wakame is blanched for a few seconds before being dried and packed.
The wakame itself is cultivated on ropes and harvested in a renowned area of quality wakame production in Japan. The wakame spores are sown in June or July. Eight months or so later in March the microscopic spores have grown to become fronds anywhere between 1.3 and 2 meters in length, which are then harvested from their ropes.

The ease of using these wakame flakes are loved by all my students and clients. No soaking required, simply add them to your miso broth or other soups and they simply rehydrate and add delicious flavours and textures.
I love my wakame in my porridge! It works well with both oatmeal or rice flakes. Just add a pinch of this along with egg and miso topped with ume paste.
We love Clearspring Wakami Flakes. They make a fantastic addition to recipes to enhance and contribute to the flavours. Providing a fishy element without the fish. As we only consume vegan products this is a valuable alternative for us.
I've used seaweeds for years, but never tried Wakame Flakes before. I think they are lovely and so easy to use. I shall continue to use them now, so please keep making them.
Wakame seaweed flakes are the most versatile and easy to use. I add them to my miso soup without soaking. I also use them in my bean and creamed soups, simply soak some in a little water and add near the end of cooking. I love them also added to my salad leaves. Incredible tasty and a great introduction to those who have never had seaweeds before, very mild and the perfect starter to introduce to the other seaweeds.
