Ingredients: Organically grown whole grain rice
Product weight: 500g
Clearspring's Organic Brown Sushi Rice is ideal for creating delicious, perfectly cooked rice that can be used to make wholesome and delicious dishes, including sushi. We thought long and hard about adding it to our range as it takes considerably more time to cook than Organic White Sushi Rice, but considering the amazing flavour and addition of whole grains, it is worth it!
The short grain Selenio rice variety used for Organic Brown Sushi Rice has characteristics very similar to the Japonica rice that is used to make sushi in Japan. It is organically grown in the Piemonte region of northwest Italy, an area also renowned for the cultivation of risotto rice.
Once ripened, the rice is then hulled by a rice miller located in the nearby town of Trino.

We loved the brown rice although on this occasion it wasn't used to make sushi. Cooked in the rice cooker it turned out perfectly, not quite as sticky as white sushi rice but a lovely nutty flavour, yet to be tested on the grand children.
Eating this frequently now in a variety of ways, kare raisu, raisuyaki, onigiri or just plain with fish and veg. Very tasty and combines well with ancient grains to make 'multigrain rice' - just wish it came in bigger boxes!
Delicious rice- I use this for a shiitake mushroom risotto. Consistent high quality and outstanding service as always from Clearspring- love that every bit of the mail order packaging can go on the compost heap!
I actually use this rice to make rice pudding. I often find brown rice needs a lot of chewing. But this is perfect for sweet or savoury dishes. And it cooks lovely in my pressure cooker.
That is not just for sushi
