The oil is cold-extracted, not cold-pressed. I was disappointed to see that when the oil arrived as the information here is labelling it as cold-pressed (in the questions to this product and categorisation). Please fix the misleading information. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it.
Hi Martina,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Regarding the term cold-extraction, we used to use the term cold-pressed, but due to strict regulations in the EU for Olive Oil, we changed the term to cold-extracted.
Before the regulation, the cold-extracted method was considered the accepted modern 'cold-pressing' technique.
However, the term cold-pressed can now only apply to the ancient traditional technique of hydraulic press, that is not commonly used anymore.
For further clarification, the cold-extraction technique is obtained at a temperature below 27°C (the same temperature as the traditional cold-pressed technique), by centrifugation.
Sorry about the confusion with the cold-pressed wording elsewhere on the website. We will look into rectifying this right away.
Thank you for the feedback and for flagging this up.
Italian extra virgin olive oil is the same or even higher quality as you would get in Italy, it can withstand the scrutiny of a local mama!
