  • Ingredients: Organically grown whole grain rice

    Product weight: 500g

Clearspring's Organic Brown Sushi Rice is ideal for creating delicious, perfectly cooked rice that can be used to make wholesome and delicious dishes, including sushi. We thought long and hard about adding it to our range as it takes considerably more time to cook than Organic White Sushi Rice, but considering the amazing flavour and addition of whole grains, it is worth it!

The short grain Selenio rice variety used for Organic Brown Sushi Rice has characteristics very similar to the Japonica rice that is used to make sushi in Japan. It is organically grown in the Piemonte region of northwest Italy, an area also renowned for the cultivation of risotto rice.

Once ripened, the rice is then hulled by a rice miller located in the nearby town of Trino.

Good stuff!

Have tried to buy this type of rice in bulk from other online retailers. While the other retailers' were cheaper, their rice often wasn't very clean e.g. it contained black husk or it didn't taste very good. This one is the best we could find (so far!) Thanks.

Brown rice (sushi)

We loved the brown rice although on this occasion it wasn't used to make sushi. Cooked in the rice cooker it turned out perfectly, not quite as sticky as white sushi rice but a lovely nutty flavour, yet to be tested on the grand children.
