Clearspring Organic Japanese Umeboshi Paste (Salt-pickled Plum Paste) is a tart and tangy seasoning that can be used to enliven sushi, dips, dressings, spreads and sauces. Add a little to the centre of nori wrapped rice balls or to the top of the rice when preparing sushi rolls. Place a thin layer on chunky cucumber rounds to make a cooling summer treat and spread sparingly on cooked sweetcorn as an alternative to butter and salt. Remember to always use umeboshi paste in small quantities as it is concentrated and salty.

Have used this for years. Usually on savoury porridge. Love the taste.

Strange but good

Never really tried anything like this before, so I've just been putting a little bit into buckwheat porridge. A little bit goes a long way, and it tastes strange but in a good way. I'll look up some recipes for it next.

Very special

I'm hoping that adding a small amount of umeboshi paste to my savoury rice porridge every day will have health benefits - and it tastes delicious.

Great thanks

a natural product for stomach upset

I was introduced to this product about 15yrs ago when I was on holidays in Portugal. My stomach disagreed with the local cousine and I was in bad shape, with stomach ache and diahrrea. I was staying with local friends and they got Umeboshi for me, 1/2 teaspoon of the paste dissolved in a small cup of hot water did the trick. I have used this product since as a kind of natural antiacid, for heartburn, tummy ache etc. You get used to the taste. I am not a doctor but I recommend it.
