It is made to an original Japanese recipe and contains key ingredients of sushi making. Simply add this well balanced blend of brown rice vinegar, mirin and soya sauce to cooked rice, and mix gently whilst the rice is still hot. It can be also used for marinades or salad dressings.

As with so many products in the Clearspring arsenal, this rice seasoning is easily head and shoulders above the crowd. Beautifully balanced and distinctly flavoured, it is devoid of the usual sickly sweetness other brands employ to mask inferior ingredients. Even with a generous hand it does not overpower the rice. It is neither too acidic nor too salty. I adored everything about it until it dawned on me that it is not free from gluten. With deep regret I'll have to go back to mixing my own scratch seasoning but it is with the fervent hope that Clearspring are developing a similarly flavoursome product safe for coeliacs and folk with gluten intolerance.
