    Millet is mildly sweet, nutty and a delicious accompaniment to peas and lentils. Tiny in size and round in shape, these ancient seeds are an interesting alternative to our more common grains but it is a staple food for a third of the world’s population.

    Peas on the other hand used to be a staple food in the middle ages. By the 17th and 18th centuries, it had become popular to eat peas "green", that is, while they are immature and right after they are picked. This was especially true in France and England, where the eating of green peas was said to be "both a fashion and a madness"!

    Finally Millet is a good source of vitamin B6, while peas and lentils not only add extra protein but are also a valuable source of iron.

  • On the hob:

    Bring a large pan of water to the boil with a pinch of salt if required. Add the grains (80g per serving) and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain and season to taste.

    For Soup:

    Bring water or stock (400ml per serving) to the boil with a pinch of salt if required. Add the grains (80g per serving) along with fresh vegetables if desired. Simmer for 10 minutes or until all the ingredients are cooked. Season to taste.

    *Not recommended for microwaves.

Nice mix of millet and legumes

Very quick and coinvent way to enjoy millet with some legumes! Works well for my quick lunches

Need better measurements,

It would really help if there was an accurate amount of water to cook the millet, like rice.
The watery texture after draining is very unappetizing.

Is there an amount that would cook into the mix so that it cooked fluffy?

Hi Joanna, sorry for the late reply. Sorry to hear you didn't like the texture. We don't have an exact amount of water like cooking rice, however a shorter cooking time would result in a less watery, more al dente texture, much like pasta. Hope you manage to get it to your liking :)
