Introducing Organic Sesame with Sea Salt (Gomashio)

To add to Clearspring's range of healthy seasonings from around the world comes the introduction of our Demeter certified Organic Sesame with Sea Salt, or Gomashio as it is known in Japan. An important component of macrobiotic and health food diets, Gomashio is an incredibly healthy condiment, which aids the body to effectively absorb small quantities of salt without creating excessive thirst. Clearspring at Biofach

The Biofach Organic trade fair in Nuremberg last month was a great success all round. We had dozens of customers and suppliers coming to our stand and everyone is upbeat about the growth of the organic food movement. Unfortunately there are incredible raw material price increases which are going to really hit home and hard. It is a big worry for us all but it doesn't reduce our passion to promote organic foods.

What is Demeter?

Clearspring Sesame with Sea Salt (Gomashio) is the first of our retail products to carry the Demeter Symbol, and so we are taking this opportunity to talk about what the orange and green symbol actually means. The Demeter Logo is found on products that have been certified as biodynamic, in accordance with a set of rigorous international production and processing standards. Biodynamic agriculture, which is based on the teachings of Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, is founded on a holistic conception of nature, and conceives of the farm as a self-sustaining entity with its own individuality. Clearspring in Poland

In 1987 Mr. Czeslaw Meus started one of the first wholeflour bread bakeries in Poland, developing his own unique way of making bread on which he took out a patent. It was from this initial success that the company Bio Futuro evolved, now the biggest distributor of Organic food in the country with about 1500 products listed in their catalogue. The company works closely regional distributors, and supplying them with the products for which they are exclusive importers, such as Clearspring, as well as their popular bakery products with which they still do well with. With the growing popularity and understanding of Organic food in Poland, Bio Futuro's future looks very bright with the Clearspring brand.
