Welcome to our May Newsletter

May is here with warmer weather, UK elections and fresh asparagus. Make your choice! I am delighted to announce two great new organic products:

  • Traditional Scottish Organic Oatcakes, using premium Scottish oats and our Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
  • Traditional Styrian Pumpkin seeds roasted to perfection and coated with our Japanese Tamari Soya Sauce.

Innovation in food – particularly rediscovering traditional foods and ingredients and adapting them to today’s tastes – has always been a great interest of mine. In 1977, I got together with a group of friends to start a unique organic and health food store in London. We called it East West Natural Foods, and our goal was to offer the best traditional foods from all over the world.

Since then I have worked continuously on developing many innovative foods, combining the good tastes of East and West. In the 80s I developed Organic Brown Rice Udon in Japan, using a popular wheat udon recipe and adding in brown rice flour. More recently, Clearspring launched Organic Miso Bouillon, and an award-winning Organic Miso Instant Soup Paste packed with organic vegetables. Our two new products are the latest in our mission to bring you great food choices every day, supporting wholesome eating and healthy snacking.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our exciting new range of Organic Oatcakes, in three flavour-packed varieties: Traditional, Sun-Dried Tomato & Herb and Sea Vegetable & Black Pepper. Clearspring Organic Oatcakes are perfect for lunch boxes, an office snack, or a picnic nibble. Packed with Scottish oats, they are also a healthy wheat-free way to add a bit more fibre to your diet. Clearspring Oatcakes are great on their own, or with soups, salads and dips.

Send us an email at info@clearspring.co.uk entitled ‘oatcake competition’ and the five best topping suggestions will win a pack of each Clearspring Organic Oatcake flavour as well as a mention on the oatcakes page. All ideas must be vegan and sugar-free and should reach us by the 21st May. Have a look at our suggestions on the Oatcakes page and the dip recipes below to give you a few ideas.

Also this month we have another new snack product to add to our Nuts, Seeds & Grains RangeTamari Pumpkin Seeds. Roasting the seeds with Clearspring Tamari gives them a deliciously deep flavour. Try serving them at your next drinks party as a nutritious alternative to salted nuts, or pop them in your lunch box.
