Organic food is grown in a way which respects the environment, biodiversity and the earth's natural balance.
It focuses on building soil health by using natural composting, green manures, crop rotation and sustainable seed varieties. On the other hand, conventional agriculture tends to use the soil simply as a medium for crop production, using artificial chemical fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides. Over time, this method radically reduces the vitality of the soil.
Certified organic food is strictly regulated and produced according to a legally defined standard. Furthermore, organic foods are naturally produced without irradiation, artificial additives, colourings or preservatives.
