Welcome to the first Clearspring newsletter of the year. We wish you a very happy 2008, which is the Year of the Rat. I hope you will have enjoyed the festive season, and perhaps some excesses, so now is a good time to turn your attention to the natural foods and the good they can do for you. Clearspring in Lithuania
This month we bring you news of the international distribution of Clearspring foods, this time from Lithuania, the furthest east of all EU countries. Deva, our customer, is in fact the biggest organic food distributor in Lithuania, a country which until recently had almost no organic produce at all. To speed up the growth of the wholefoods market, the Lithuanian government have recently lowered the VAT for organic foods to 5%, down from the standard 21%. Supermarkets have begun to sell organic produce, and little over a month ago, the first organic shop opened in the capital Vilnius, where, thanks to Deva, Clearspring was the primary food brand on display.
